The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) obtained a record-breaking $8.2 billion from enforcement actions in the 2024 fiscal year, with a majority of it coming from Terraform Labs, a Cryptocurrency company. According to the SEC's annual report on November 22nd, despite a 26% decrease in the number of cases to 583 compared to last year, the agency achieved a net monetary remedy of $8.2 billion, the highest amount in the history of the SEC. More than half of the total amount comes from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the United States' successful lawsuit against Terraform and former CEO Do Kwon in court, who was found guilty of fraud in 2022 for the blockchain ecosystem collapse that resulted in billions of dollars in losses and paid a settlement of $4.47 billion.
